Mem · o · ry Me · tal De · tec · tor [mem´o-re met´l di-tek´tur] n. 1. Bounty Hunter IV metal detector, a device of the 1990s, enhanced for Metal Memory Detectoration. 2. A member of a Memory Metal Detectoration Team, made up of individuals who were once Memory Metal Echolocators and have been restored. Teams consist of 3-5 individuals of mixed gender, ethnicity, and belief systems; they are characterized by striped track suits with embroidered patch insignia; Team members sport genuine smiles. Iris Williams recognized Memory Metal Detector Johnny Delgado as he returned to her house, but when he spoke in her mother's voice, Iris fainted; upon resuscitation, she donned a striped track suit and joined the Team.
Mem · o · ry Me · tal De · tect · o · ra · tion [mem´o-re met´l di-tek´tur´a-shun] v. The procurement of memory metal (also known as "mental memory"). 1. Procurement from the physical body of a Memory Metal Echolocator which indicates the site of further Detectoration. 2. Procurement from the site or landscape where memory metal resides, where it has been lost (e.g. the yards of childhood homes, cemeteries, volcanic craters, along the earth's crooked faultlines). After using their Bounty Hunter IVs to scan the head and solar plexus of Echolocator Iris Williams, the Team received coordinates that directed them to the aquaculture laboratory that had been built over what had been, in Iris's childhood, her bedroom; this would be the site of further Memory Metal Detectoration.

Mem · o · ry Me · tal Mag · net · ism [mem´o-re met´l mag´ni-tiz´um] n. 1. The pull of memories. a. As restoration to the hopeless. b. From memory to memory, between them; the provocation of further restoration. Generation. 2. The work of Metal Memory Scramblers, subversive teams who run at acute angles through the streets, carrying magnets of great force, thereby to complicate the process of memory metal detectoration and restoration. A voice from the past provokes metal that cannot be bent by the most resolute team of Magneteers; this Memory Metal Magnetism is thus resistant to Memory Metal Magnetism.
Mem · o · ry Me · tal Ob · ject [mem´o-re met´l ob´jekt´] n. A forgotten item, clue, or key that provokes immense emotion and hopefulness. Commonly known as "memory metal." 1. Material objects of metal, such as a rusted cap gun, a bent fork, a signet ring. 2. Enhancements such as scents or tastes from the past, captured through Detectoration, and carried by the Team in glass vials. 3. A phrase or statement, located by and channeled through a member of a Detectoration Team, that is recounted in the exact voice and intonation of a person from the past (e.g. a dead person): Sweetheart, when I saw all the girls at the arcade this afternoon, I was so proud and happy that you were the one who is my daughter.
